Falls of Bruar
The Falls of Bruar are located approximately 8 miles north of Pitlochry on the northern side of the A9 between Calvine and Blair Atholl in Perth and Kinross. The falls are hidden within an old pine woodland and form a fascinating part of the Bruar Water which winds its way through a narrow chasm, cutting its way through the local bedrock and forming some fascinating structures. It is thought that the falls were first formed following the retreat of glacial ice covering the area some 10,000 years ago. The area is one of the lesser known gems for Scottish photography and well worth a visit if you are passing through. The House of Bruar shopping complex is located just off the A9 and makes for a welcome stop when visiting the falls.
