Loch Leven, Perth and Kinross
Loch Leven is a fresh water loch located in the county of Perth and Kinross, central Scotland. The loch is approximately 6km in length, with Kinross being located on its western shore. The loch has a beautifully undulating landscape surrounding it, with the Lomond Hills to the east standing 522m above mean sea level. The loch is a National Nature Reserve, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), and a Special Protected Area (SPA), therefore being highly designated and very scenic. It has a deep history, with Mary Queen of Scots being held in Loch Leven Castle in the year 1567. The castle is located on the islands within the loch, being a popular tourist attraction.
