Loch Loyne, Scottish Highlands

Loch Loyne is located in the Scottish Highlands and can be viewed from the A87 road which runs along its eastern bank. The Loch was originally much smaller in size, but once the hydroelectric dam was completed in 1957 it became much larger. The original roadway was located lower down the hillside but became submerged once the water level rose. A new road, the A87, was therefore constructed higher up the hillside to avoid the fluctuating water level in the Loch. The road provides many beautiful views across the glen and makes for a very pleasant drive when the weather is favourable.
